#two  start areas  A start area is a circular area centered on a flag. A rope with and small markball at its end is attached to the flag, and the rope length is the radius of the start area. These are the single player rules. It is assumed that a match opposes 2 players (named here players A and B).

A set is considered as a sequence of four games.
Variations


In any game, the players play alternatively.
Water hazard may be present on a goalf course : they are considered exactly as penalty areas. The player who plays the penalty move is allowed 


*For game 1, player A plays first from the starting area X, and his goal is to put the ball in the goal area Y. Player B's goal is to put the ball in the goal area X.
Notes
*For game 2, player B plays first from the starting area X, and his goal is to put the ball in the goal area Y. Player A's goal is to put the ball in the goal area X.
*For game 3, player A plays first from the starting area Y, and his goal is to put the ball in the goal area X. Player B's goal is to put the ball in the goal area Y.
*For game 4, player B plays first from the starting area Y, and his goal is to put the ball in the goal area X. Player A's goal is to put the ball in the goal area Y.

=== Green surface as goal area : game points count. ===

When the ball falls in the target goal area, the player who has hit the ball has to finish the game with putting moves.If the ball goes in the hole in one put, (s)he wins 3 points. If the ball goes in the hole in two puts, (s)he wins 2 points. If the ball goes in the hole in more than two puts, (s)he wins 1 points. The game is then terminated.

When the ball falls in the target goal area, the player who has hit the ball has one point and the game is terminated.

=== Penalties ===

When the ball falls in any penalty area, the opposite player is allowed to play one additional intermediary move (penalty move). The penalty move is followed by the normal move, by the same player. However if the penalty move brings the ball to a goal area, then the player hitting the penaly move has won the game (circular goal area) or is allowed to play a free put (green surface as goal area).

=== Sets and match: point counts. ===

At the end of the four games, the set score is computed as the sum of the games points. The set score may be a draw.

The number of sets is fixed before the match starts. The match score is the sum of the set scores. The match score may be a draw.

If the match requires the designation of a winner, but the match score is a draw, additional games or sets are organized.

=== More than 2 players ===

Instead of two players, the goalf match may oppose two teams of players.

In alternance mode, the players play after each other within both teams.

In free mode, both team my decide which player hits the ball at any time.

Goalf is a game whoise conception is inspired by golf and by several other games.

Goalf opposes two players in a tactical way.

Golf and goalf are similar

Goalf is played using clubs. Golf clubs are goalf clubs.

Goalf is played using balls. Golf balls are goalf balls.

Golf and goalf differ

Goalf is always played by two opposites players (or teams), who hit the ball alternatively.

Goalf move are only relevant within a match.

One course is sufficient to play a goalf match.

The match is organized in sets. Set are organized in games and points.

Goalf course

The goalf course is bounded by a course border, designed by the course designer (the border is materialized as white piquets, plus the straight line joining them.

The goalf course contains

  1. the normal fairway
  2. two  start areas  A start area is a circular area centered on a flag. A rope with and small markball at its end is attached to the flag, and the rope length is the radius of the start area. The ball is considered as present in a start area when it is possible to touch it with the markball. The size and position of the two start areas are decided by the course designer.
